Coaching Staff

Chris Jacklin is thrilled to serve as the Hockey Director for the North Stars Hockey Club. A lifelong resident of the area, Chris brings a deep-rooted passion for the game and a strong commitment to youth development. He began playing hockey at the age of 3 and competed locally throughout his youth and high school years.

With over a decade of coaching experience, Chris is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach. Prior to joining the North Stars, he spent more than 10 years coaching within the Chicago Hawks organization in Darien, where he helped guide players at various stages of development.

As Hockey Director, Chris is focused on creating a positive, competitive, and character-driven team culture. He emphasizes accountability, sportsmanship, and hard work both on and off the ice, striving to help players grow not only as athletes but as individuals. His coaching philosophy is rooted in discipline, preparation, and respect—ensuring every player is equipped to succeed on the ice and in life beyond hockey.

Chris is proud to lead a coaching staff made up of local talent, including Mikey Liszka and Jimmy Kasch—both North Stars alumni and University of Kentucky hockey players. Together, they aim to push the program forward with high standards, structured practices, and a shared passion for developing the next generation of hockey players.

Chris looks forward to a successful season and is always open to feedback as he continues working to elevate the North Stars program.

Michael Liszka, a former North Stars player and one of Illinois High School hockey’s top scorers, has 2 year of coaching experience. He also played college hockey at the University of Kentucky.

Michael’s coaching philosophy is built around playing the game the right way—emphasizing pressure in the zone, defense, and teamwork on and off the ice.

His goal is to ensure his players continue to improve and grow as both athletes and individuals. Off the rink, Michael enjoys golfing, watching football, and movies.

Fun Fact: Michael was one of the top scorers in Illinois High School hockey while playing for the North Stars and attending ICCP

Jimmy Kasch brings 3 years of coaching experience and 16 years of playing experience to the North Stars Hockey Club. A former player for Maine Hockey in high school and the University of Kentucky Men’s Ice Hockey team in college, Jimmy’s favorite memories include scoring a goal at the United Center during his state championship and notching back-to-back hat tricks against Louisville in college.

His coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, respect, and accountability, with the goal of helping players not only become better athletes but also better individuals.

Off the ice, Jimmy enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with his four brothers. He is also involved with Misericordia, supporting individuals with special needs.

Fun Fact: Jimmy is a dedicated Chicago Blackhawks fan, with Patrick Kane as his favorite player.

Rob is entering his second year as a coach with the North Stars Junior Varsity hockey team. A lifelong hockey player in the Chicagoland area, Rob played youth travel hockey for the Oak Park Eagles, and high school hockey at St. Joseph High School, where he developed a strong work ethic and a team-first mentality. He brings a deep passion for the game and a competitive mindset to the bench. As a coach, Rob is focused on player development, building confidence, and fostering a positive, competitive culture built on high standards and accountability.

My name is Paul Cassin, and I’m from Homer Glen, Illinois. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the North Stars goalies and help young players develop both on and off the ice.

As a former goalie myself, I understand the unique challenges and rewards that come with playing the position. I played AAA hockey for Team Illinois after winning both league and state championships at the AA level. I went on to play for CYA before being called up to the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL, followed by a stint with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL.

I’m passionate about sharing my experience and knowledge with the next generation of players. I’m especially excited to work with kids who share the same love for the game that I do and help them grow as goalies, hockey players, and teammates.
